Briana "Bri" Franklin

President & CEO

Bri is a businesswoman, philanthropist and student debt expert/thought leader with a passion for socioeconomic and holistic empowerment of Black girls and women.

Having taken on a financial burden that eventually ballooned to nearly $120K in student debt through her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, Bri developed an acute appreciation for the challenges many student debt holders experience, including diminished ability to establish financial independence, take advantage of personal freedoms, such as starting a family/home buying, launch business ventures as well as creditworthiness.

In recognizing the extent to which other Black women in particular experience adversity at the hands of the $1.7T student debt crisis as well as lack of financial literacy, she formed The Prosp(a)rity Project as a solution for eradicating these systemic barriers.

Her work has been profiled in outlets such as Forbes, Buzzfeed, Authority Magazine and Thrive Global, attracted support from audiences worldwide and achieved numerous milestones.

Ashley Wells

Chief Operations Officer

Ashley is a writer, aspiring scholar, and a current graduate student at Columbia University. She is working towards getting her M.A. in American Studies, and her research interests revolve around Black American women and the mental health crisis plaguing the country.

Having accumulated more than $200K in student debt from her degrees, Ashley is passionate about lifting up Black women out of the hole that the debt crisis puts them into. As a co-founder and the Chief Operations Officer of The Prosp(a)rity Project, Ashley’s role includes managing all of the internal operations of our organization.

Outside of her role on the Prosp(a)rity Project, she is dedicated to impacting those in her graduate student community. She is the President of Columbia’s Arts & Sciences Graduate Council, the student government that represents all M.A. and Ph.D. students within her University. Before arriving at Columbia, she received her M.A. in Creative Writing from Dartmouth College and her B.A. in English Literature from Binghamton University.
